Carrollton Board of Education

The Carrollton Board of Education is an elected body of six board members, four elected by wards and two at large, or citywide. The board then elects a chairman, vice chairman and treasurer each January. Currently, board Chairman Michael Rothschild and Vice Chairman Lynn Kress are elected at large, Greg Dothard represents Ward One, Joe McGinnis represents Ward Two, Kelly Glanton represents Ward Three and Dr. James C. Pope represents Ward Four.

School board members serve four-year terms. Terms are staggered with elections held every two years.

ELECTION UPDATE

The Nov. 3, 2009, municipal election included four seats on the Carrollton Board of Education. Incumbent Joe McGinnis was re-elected to serve a third consecutive term for Ward Two and incumbent Greg Dothard, who was appointed to fill the Ward One vacancy created by the death of long-time board member Joshua Mabry, was elected to serve the remainder of the term through 2011. Newcomers to the board are David Godwin, who defeated incumbent Lynn Kress in an at-large, or citywide, race, and Dr. Jason Mount, who defeated incumbent Kelly Glanton in Ward Three.

The four will take their oaths of office at the January 7, 2010, board meeting.
